Postdoc opportunities

We are seeking people with an interest in quantitative approaches to neuroscience. You should have, or be near completing, a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Experimental Psychology, or in a quantitative field (e.g. Physics, Math, Engineering).

Postdocs joining the lab will be expected, after appropriate guidance and/or any necessary self-education, to lead the group's research efforts in one or more of the projects listed below. In addition, those wishing to develop and pursue their own, independent, self-originated, line(s) of research will be very much encouraged to do so: the lab seeks an atmosphere of vigorous discussion and creative independence. Applications from self-guided, motivated, independent-minded scientists are particularly welcome.

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory provides an excellent environment for neuroscience research. Applicants should send a CV, the names of three references, and a summary of research interests and experience to:

Carlos Brody,
1 Bungtown Road, Freeman Building,
Cold Spring Harbor,
NY 11724, USA.

The positions are open immediately. CSHL provides a good benefits package. Salaries are on the NIH pay scale. Please contact me at brody@cshl.org or on the phone at (516) 367-6902 if you have any questions.

Lab interest areas (in order of descending current emphasis in the lab; for details on these, click here):

1) Psychophysics and neurocomputational modeling of working memory.
2) Encoding and representation of time.
3) Computation with spiking neurons.
4) Automated mapping of complex receptive fields.
